軋輥由輥身、輥頸和軸頭二部分組成。輥頸安裝在軸承中，并通過袖承座和壓下裝置把軋制力傳給機架。鉑頭和連接軸相連接，傳遞軋制扭矩。軸頭有三種主要形式；梅花軸頭、萬向軸頭、帶鍵槽的或圓柱形軸頭。

The roll is  of two parts of the roller body, the neck of the roll and the shaft head. The roll neck is installed in the bearing and passes through the sleeve bearing seat and the press down device to the rack. The platinum head is connected to the connecting shaft to transfer the rolling torque. There are three main forms of the shaft; the shaft of a plum, a universal shaft, or a cylindrical shaft with a keyway.

軋輥的品種和制造工藝隨冶金技術的進步和軋鋼設備的演變而不斷發(fā)展。中世紀軋制軟的有色金屬時使用強度低的灰鑄鐵軋輥。18世紀中葉英國掌握了軋制鋼板用的冷硬鑄鐵軋輥的生產(chǎn)技術。

The variety and manufacturing process of roll have been developed with the progress of metallurgical technology and the evolution of steel rolling equipment. The use of low strength gray iron rolls in the Middle Ages when rolling soft nonferrous metals. In the middle of the eighteenth Century, Britain mastered the production technology of cold cast iron rolls used for rolling steel plates.

常用的軋輥材質(zhì)和用途見表。軋輥的性能和質(zhì)量一般取決于其化學成分和制造方式并可由其組織、物理和力學性能以及存在于軋輥內(nèi)部的殘余應力類型來評估（見軋輥檢驗）。

The material and use of the commonly used rolls are shown in the table. The performance and quality of roller generally depend on its chemical  and manufacturing way, and can be evaluated by its organization, physical and mechanical properties and the type of residual stress existing inside the roll (see roll test).

由于軋制過程是連續(xù)的過程，因此操作人員需要不斷檢測軋輥狀況，使生產(chǎn)出來的產(chǎn)品滿足用戶對更嚴格的公差和表面質(zhì)量的要求。

As the rolling process is a continuous process, the operator needs to continuously detect the roll status to meet the more stringent tolerance and surface quality requirements of the products produced.
